Mike Fabriicus was commissioned by the World Bank to conduct a scoping of tourism development needs and opportunities for the World Bank funded, Mais Oportunidades (MAISOP) programme. The support programme will enable INATUR to enhance tourism in Inhambane Province. Following the study various developmnent concepts are currently in the development stages, including the redevelopment of the Tofo market, strengthening the seawall and marginal in Vilankulos, a destination marketing support programme to enhance the image of the province, sopport for the tourism and hospitality training institute in Inhambane and support for community-based NGOs.

The programme was developed in close consultation with key stakeholders and following intensive fiedl assessment
